Dr. Fernandes is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with Certificate of Added Qualification in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida and holds appointments in the Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedic Surgery and Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville. Currently, he serves as the Chief of Head and Neck Surgery, Director of the Head and Neck/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery fellowship, Director of the Center for Reconstructive Surgery, Co-Director of the Skull Base Surgery Program and Associate Chairman of the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Fernandes is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (ad. Hominem), as well as many other surgical and medical associations in the USA. He is an honorary fellow of the Spanish Society of OMS, the Mexican Association of OMS, Pakistan Association of OMS, and the Costa Rican Society of OMS.

He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally and has authored numerous manuscripts in the areas of head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery as well a single author textbook Atlas of Local Regional Flaps in Head and Neck Surgery and is co-editor of the recently published textbook Oral, Head Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery.

Trained in OMFS in the UK, moved to University of Maryland. USA and was Chairman of OMFS for 20 years. Specialized in Head/Neck Oncology and Salivary Gland Surgery. Published 3 books, 68 chapters and approximately 150 peer-reviewed papers.  Keynote speaker at 64 National and 80 international meetings. Examiner for ICOMS, ABOMS, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Currently on 6 Editorial Boards and Oncology Section Editor for IJOMS.

Prof. Francesco Saverio De Ponte, born in Roccarainola, Naples, in 15/08/1958. Achieved Dentistry and Dental Prothesis Degreee and Medicine and Surgery Degree at the University of Rome “La Sapienza“ between 1984 and 1999 and obtained Maxillo Facial Surgery Specialization afterwards at University of Rome “La Sapienza“. Possess wide-ranging experience on craniofacial deformities, traumatology and oncology of the head and neck district and has attended more than 1500 surgeries of the mentioned areas of expertise. Currently Full Professor of Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Director of the Specialization School of Maxillo-Facial Surgery at the University of Messina, Director of the Maxillo-Facial Surgery unit at the University Hospital “G. Martino” of Messina. Author of more than 130 researches on national and international journals and speaker on several national and international congresses. Active member of Società Italiana di Chirurgia Maxillo Facciale (SICMF) and Italian Councillor for the European Association of Cranio Maxillo Facial Surgery (EACMFS).

Aliyev Aziz Jamil, MD, PhD Professor

Aziz Aliyev was born on January 16, 1975 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

He graduated from public school N134 with silver medal and was accepted to the State Medical University of Azerbaijan. 

He continued his education in the United States and graduated from the New York University. After graduation of New York University, he continued his education in the Pittsburgh Medical University residency.

He successfully completed the 2-year global fellowship program in “Head and neck oncology” at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Oncology center, NewYork, USA. After confirmation of medical license in Austria, he worked at Barmherzigen Schwestern clinic, Linz, Austria, as the surgeon in the Head and Neck cancer surgery department. 

For more than 10 years, he is the leading researcher and surgeon in the Head and Neck Cancer surgery department at the National Oncology Center of Azerbaijan Republic.

By the decision of the Higher Certifying Commission under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, he was awarded the PhD diploma in medicine and the academic degree of “Professor” in Oncology field.  

He worked as the Vice Dean of the medical education at the Azerbaijan Medical University.

On December 2015, he was appointed as Rector of the First Moscow State Medical University after I.M.Sechenov Baku Branch.

Professor Aliyev – member of American and European Societies of Clinical oncology, editorial board member of Azerbaijan Oncology Journal, member of Dissertation Council by “Oncology” and “radiation diagnoses and therapy” specialties. Member of Scientific Council at National Oncology Center of Azerbaijan Republic.

Due to his organizational skills and under his leadership in Azerbaijan regularly take place international conferences on diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors with participation of well-known specialist from Europe and USA.  He regularly reports the results of his research at international congresses of oncologists in the USA, Germany, Austria and Russia.

Under his leadership, there are 4 PhD dissertations on medical oncology are performed. Professor Aliyev have more than 50 publications, 1 monography, 4 teaching syllabuses and 1 methodical recommendation. 

Professor Aliyev is one of the leading specialists in diagnoses and surgical treatment of head and neck pathologies. The most important areas of his scientific and practical activity are diseases of the thyroid gland, larynx, pharynx, tongue, skin and other pathologies of the head and neck. Under his leadership was created complex program for prophylaxis and early diagnoses of head and neck malignancies and premalignant diseases. 

In diagnoses and treatment of head and neck cancer Professor Aliyev use most advanced technology: fine-needle biopsy, radionuclide investigation of thyroid, SPECT-CT, radioactive iodine treatment and other methods. Advanced diagnostic methods make it possible to determine the presence of a tumor at early stages and its extent with a high degree of informativeness which allows early-stage surgical treatment.
