Profile

Satheesh graduated in both medicine and dental surgery. After his medical graduation, he worked in various surgical specialties including vascular surgery, orthopaedics and plastic surgery. He completed his specialist training in the North West Deanery. This involved training in various teaching and university hospitals. He has done two JCST (Joint Committee on Surgical Training, advisory body to four royal colleges) and General Medical Council approved interface fellowships. He completed his Trauma and Reconstructive Fellowship in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and did his advanced training in head and neck cancer and reconstruction from Central Manchester University Hospitals and Christie Hospital, Manchester.

He is the recipient of Leibinger Fellowship from the European Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and an "Advancing the Speciality" award from the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Satheesh has also done a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.

Nik Kalavrezos

Nicholas Kalavrezos is a Senior Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeon in the Head and Neck Centre at University College London Hospital with a background in Oral and Maxillo-Facial surgery.

Nicholas is also the Lead Head and Neck Sarcoma Surgeon for the London Sarcoma Service. His clinical practice includes ablative and reconstructive surgery for the head and neck with a special interest in bone sarcomas and functional outcomes following reconstructive surgery. His clinical practice also includes surgical treatment of salivary gland tumors as well as thyroid surgery.

Nicholas' research interests include applications of “tissue engineering” in head & neck reconstruction. Nicholas is a founding member of the “Centre for Reconstructive Surgery” at University College London and holds a Senior Lecturer post at the same Institution. He is also a member of the “Face Transplant Group” based at Royal Free Hospital aiming to perform the first face transplant in the UK. 

He has joint research projects in the Nanotechnology Lab of UCL on “tissue engineered bio-scaffolding” aiming to replace defects of the head and neck with tissue– engineered based micro-vascular flap reconstruction. The FORTE flap is a paradigm to this direction. 

Nicholas lectures regularly at national and international meetings and holds the position of the President Elect at the Executive Board of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS).
