Dr. Manlio Galiè is Clinical Professor at the St. Anna University Hospital of Ferrara - Italy, Department of Cranio Maxillo Facial Surgery - Center for Orbital Pathology & Surgery ( Director and Chief: Prof. Luigi C. Clauser ).He has completed formal training in both Medicine MD and Dentistry DMD.He specializes in Maxillo-Facial Surgery and in ENT Surgery.Dr. Galiè has lectured as invited speaker to numerous Seminars, Meetings, Roundtables and Congresses in Italy, Europe, and Worldwide.Author of over 70 publications in National and International Journals he is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery ( Official Pubblication of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery – EACMFS ), and of the Journal of Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction ( Official Membership Journal of AO CMF ).

Julio Acero

Julio Acero is the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Ramon y Cajal and the Puerta de Hierro University Hospitals in Madrid, Spain, Full Professor of Surgery at the Alcala University of Madrid and Member of the Research Group on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine of  The Ramon y Cajal Research Institute IRYCIS. He studied Medicine and Dentistry and obtained his PhD at the university in Madrid being distinguished as Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Iasi, Romania and by the National University of Athens, Greece. Fellow Ad eundem of the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as Fellow and Examiner of the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IBCSOMS). Prof Acero is a Member of the Spanish National Academy of Dental Sciences and foreign Member of the National Academy of Dentistry of Argentina. His special fields of interest are oncologic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck including the skull base as well as bone regeneration. He has lectured and published widely in these fields and has been appointed as invited Professor in different universities around the world including the official appointments of External Full Professor of the National University of Athens (Greece), Honorary Professor at the University of Ferrara (Italy), the University of Belgrade (Serbia), the University of Bucharest (Romania) and the National University of Nordeste (Corrientes, Argentina). Visiting Professor at the University of Beijing (China), Messina (Italy), Malaya University at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), University of Florida in Jacksonville and the Vanderbilt University (USA). Massimo Maranzani

Mr Massimo Maranzano DMD MD OMFS PLAS MSc

Consultant Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgeon/Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeon/Plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester; Honorary Senior Lecturer University of Manchester Massimo qualified both MD and DDS from University of Padova (Italy), then qualified as Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 1996 from University of Verona (Italy) and completed his high medical training as full Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in 2007 from University of Udine (Italy).  He is Master of Arts in Forensic Odontology from University of Florence since 2010.

He took up his job as NHS Consultant at Bassano del Grappa (Italy) in 1996 then moved to Udine Regional University Hospital Trust where he has set up the Regional Service of Higher Specialization in Head and Neck Reconstruction including rehabilitation and moved to Treviso Regional Hospital Trust where he has been practicing as Senior Head and Neck Consultant, finally has moved to Manchester in 2013.

Mr Maranzano has followed a unique training pathway both in Oral and Maxillofacial/Head and Neck Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He was able to combine both extensive clinical training and sound scientific grounding supporting clinical practice.

He has published in both English and Italian peer-reviewed journals and lectures at numerous national and international conferences in and outside Europe.

He is Honorary Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Jacksonville, Florida (USA).

He is Chief of the Reconstructive Section at the SORG academy. He is Member of the Great Manchester Cancer Pathway for Head and Neck Cancer. He is member of PEERS (Platform for Exchange of Education, Research and Science by Dentsply Sirona).

His clinical and research interests include Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstruction, including microsurgery, pre implant and implant surgery including 3D planning both for reconstruction and implant placement.

Jürgen Hoffmann

Prof. Hoffmann qualified as an OMFS surgeon in 1997 at the University Hospital Tübingen and finished his PhD-Thesis in 1999.  Since 2010 he is chairing the Dept. of OMFS at the University Hospital in Heidelberg, which is one of the major units in Germany, covering a broad scope of surgical techniques. At present Prof. Hoffmann holds the position as the Past-President of the German Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DGMKG) and as a member of the board of the German Association of Surgery (DGCH).

His main focus is in the field of Traumatology and Reconstructive Surgery. He has special interests in image data based planning, treatment of Vascular Anomalies, CLP and bone regeneration.

Javier Gonzalez Lagunas

Dr Gonzalez Lagunas is the Head of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Hospital Quironsalud Barcelona. Member of the Executive Committee of EACMFS since 2021, with the position of Media Development Manager

He is the current editor of the EACMFS newsletter “The Pulse” and scientific director of its educational platform. Member at Large of the Executive Committee of IAOMS from 2014 to 2019. He chaired the 21st International Conference of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 2013 (ICOMS) in Barcelona. Dr González Lagunas developed and was the Editor-in-Chief of the IAOMS magazine Face to face from 2014 to 2020.

Emeka Nkenke

Prof. Nkenke is Professor and Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the General Hospital of Vienna, Austria. He is also a consultant to the Wiener Privatklinik and runs a private practice. Prof. Nkenke is dually qualified as a doctor as well as a dentist. He also holds a doctorate in theoretical medicine. Prof. Nkenke has a deep commitment to innovation when he practices oral and maxillofacial surgery. He uses the latest technology to the benefit of his patients. He is specialized in virtual surgical planning and the use of patient-specific implants in orthognathic surgery, craniofacial surgery and reconstructive surgery. Prof. Nkenke has pioneered guided dental implant surgery. Further evidence of his commitment to innovation are new techniques he pioneered on free flap jaw reconstruction for cancer patients. This is a microsurgical technique which enables large defects in the face and jaws to be repaired.

 Prof. Nkenke has a special dedication to the treatment of cleft lip and palate malformations. Since two decades he is performing primary (closure of lip and palate) and secondary (bone grafting of the maxilla, rhinoplasty, advancement of the maxilla) operations. His armamentarium also includes distraction osteogenesis.

 Prof. Nkenke holds the positions of the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery and a Section Editor of the International Journal Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

 He is also active in undergraduate and postgraduate education. Prof. Nkenke give webinars on a regular basis. He has run several national and international congresses.

Sajjad Walji

MR Sajjad Walji is a Maxillofacial / Head And Neck Surgeon at the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in The Netherlands. He trained with Professor Freihofer from Zurich and Professor Stoelinga in the Netherlands, followed by a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive surgery in the United Kingdom with Mr. Evans. During his 10 year stay in the UK, he developed a special interest in Parotid Gland Surgery and Facial Reconstruction.

He is been an Examiner for the European Board since 2010 and has lectured Internationally.

Satheesh Prabhu

Profile

Satheesh graduated in both medicine and dental surgery. After his medical graduation, he worked in various surgical specialties including vascular surgery, orthopaedics and plastic surgery. He completed his specialist training in the North West Deanery. This involved training in various teaching and university hospitals. He has done two JCST (Joint Committee on Surgical Training, advisory body to four royal colleges) and General Medical Council approved interface fellowships. He completed his Trauma and Reconstructive Fellowship in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and did his advanced training in head and neck cancer and reconstruction from Central Manchester University Hospitals and Christie Hospital, Manchester.

He is the recipient of Leibinger Fellowship from the European Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and an "Advancing the Speciality" award from the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Satheesh has also done a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.

Nik Kalavrezos

Nicholas Kalavrezos is a Senior Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeon in the Head and Neck Centre at University College London Hospital with a background in Oral and Maxillo-Facial surgery.

Nicholas is also the Lead Head and Neck Sarcoma Surgeon for the London Sarcoma Service. His clinical practice includes ablative and reconstructive surgery for the head and neck with a special interest in bone sarcomas and functional outcomes following reconstructive surgery. His clinical practice also includes surgical treatment of salivary gland tumors as well as thyroid surgery.

Nicholas' research interests include applications of “tissue engineering” in head & neck reconstruction. Nicholas is a founding member of the “Centre for Reconstructive Surgery” at University College London and holds a Senior Lecturer post at the same Institution. He is also a member of the “Face Transplant Group” based at Royal Free Hospital aiming to perform the first face transplant in the UK. 

He has joint research projects in the Nanotechnology Lab of UCL on “tissue engineered bio-scaffolding” aiming to replace defects of the head and neck with tissue– engineered based micro-vascular flap reconstruction. The FORTE flap is a paradigm to this direction. 

Nicholas lectures regularly at national and international meetings and holds the position of the President Elect at the Executive Board of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS).
